FAR FROM EVERYTHING BUT CLOSE TO THE ESSENTIALS

We have our own fixed camps during the whole climbing season.

Each base camp has its own structural tents dome-like to be used as dining tents. These structures are prepared to resist heavy blizzards.

The camps have electric light and many electrical sockets that give you the possibility of charging your electric devices every day. In addition, each camp has a hose and container system to recollect and store water. This is very convenient for our clients to have access to water coming from snowmelt streams, without effort.

The dining tents have very comfortable table and chairs so that you can enjoy the meal services.

In each base camp, Aconcagua Provincial Park has a permanent medical staff. However, our company counts on extra security elements beside the ones provided by the park: portable oxygen tubes, emergency first aid kits, hyperbaric chamber and digital oximeters. Also, our staff will pay careful attention to every person and will be ready to assist you if they detect any mountain sickness symptom or a health problem.

If our clients wish for a more comfortable staying, we have dormitory structure tents with bunk beds in our three base camps: Confluencia, Plaza de Mulas and Plaza Argentina.

Although we have the entire infrastructure to offer you the best services while you are in Mt. Aconcagua, you will surely agree that our warm staff is the best part.

This service will allow you to spend a more comfortable and quiet staying in the base camps during your acclimatization period.

LOAD TRANSPORT ON MULES

ACONCAGUA MOUNTAIN GUIDES owns more than 120 mules which carry people or your belongings. We have a selected and professional team who has dedicated its life to the country and to the animals: THE MULETEERS. Experience has taught them to understand and to deal with these animals.

Each mule can carry up to a limit of 180 kg. However, as we are concern about our animals’ well-being we only carry 60 kg so as they can move comfortably in the mountain.

In Penitentes we have a local area for you to deliver and pick up your luggage, as well as in our camps in Confluencia, Plaza de Mulas and Plaza Argentina. In each place there are permanent people in charge.

When your expedition comes to an end in any of the base camps, we can reserve your return mules thought radial communication.

When you hire the mule service with ACONCAGUA MOUNTAIN GUIDES the following is included:

  • Storage room in Penitentes and base camps.

  • Vehicle transportation from your lodging in Puente del Inca or Penitentes up to the valley where your trekking starts. (Horcones Valley or Vacas Valley)

  • The right to use the toilets in our base camps.

  • When you hire return mules, we compromise to freely take your waste down from the base camp to Puente del Inca. In this case, our staff in the base camps will sign your climbing permit in order to give proof that our company will be responsible for your garbage.

We recommended bringing a duffle bag to cover your load to be carried by mules as well as covering the ends of ice axes and crampons to avoid some damage to the animal. If your bag pack is carried by mules, remember to close all the clasps. We do not have to forget the rebellious nature of mules.

PORTER SERVICE FOR HIGH CAMPS

DON’T LET PRIDE GET IN YOUR WAY ON YOUR EXPEDITION.INSTEAD OF CARRYING 15 OR 20 KILOGRAMS, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO TRANSPORT ONLY WHAT YOU WANT.

WHEN THE GOAL IS TO CLIMB THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN IN THE AMERICAN CONTINENT, THIS SOLE DECISION CAN MAKE THE GREATEST DIFFERENCE.

In the last 10 years we have seen an increasing number of climbers trying to reach Aconcagua’s summit. Along with them, it has also increased the demand for new and better services.

Porters for high camps have become a priceless help for most climbers. Today, the number of climbers who hire this service outnumbers the ones who don’t.

It is very important for you to ask to the company that you hire, how the transport of loads to the high camps is made. Don’t be fooled. Some companies sell expeditions with porters, but they are not included in the price. Hence, you must pay that service when getting to the base camp, move yourself with over 20 kilograms between high camps or make countless and tiring days moving all the weight.

Don’t hesitate to ask our customer service staff about this service and to consult about every possible doubt that you may have. If you have concerns regarding your physical condition, your adaptation to the altitude, or you just want to climb the mountain with less weight on your back, the help provided by our porters will be a great advantage.

  • The altitude effect in Aconcagua is very strong. Each gram less on your shoulders is a priceless aid.

  • Climbing lighter helps you maintain your energy focused on the Summit day.

WHAT IS PORTER SERVICE?

Porter Service refers to the transportation of load to the different high camps. This load is moved by the porters.

Porters are young climbers that spend the climbing season in the base camps. This provides them with outstanding acclimatization and training. Most of them are studying and preparing themselves to become future mountain guides. So, this work helps them on gaining preparation and experience for their future careers.

Our company has its own porter staff on each base camp (Plaza de Mulas and Plaza Argentina). They are coordinated every day by the chief of porters, who is in charge of designating how the load will be moved to the high camps.

WHAT KIND OF PORTER SERVICES ARE THERE?

Our Company offers two kinds of porter services half porter or full porter.

  • Half porter means that the porter will carry from 01 to 10 kilograms.

  • Full porter means that our porter will carry from 11 to 20 kilograms.

MEALS FOR HEIGHT CAMPS

We know that the meal organization for the height camps in your expedition can be a great problem. On the one hand, if you decide to bring your own food for the expedition, you will be restricted by our country’s strong import laws; you will probably have problems to enter it. On the other hand, if you decide to buy all the necessary things in Mendoza, you could get confused by the variety of foods, brands, prices and flavours presented by our market. After this, you will have to think on the best option to pack your food and finally, carry it on mule up the base camp. To avoid all this and focus on the summit objective, most people opt not to worry and leave this issue in our hands.

When hiring our services, you just forget about shopping, packing and moving food up to the base camps and you just take it from Plaza de Mulas o Plaza Argentina to the height camps.

The FULL BOARD IN HEIGHT CAMPS consists of breakfast, lunch (packed lunch or lunch in camps), dinner and a variety of infusions along the day.

It includes all the meals for the days you spend at the height camps to be picked up in the base camp of the chosen route. It does not include a meal porter to the height camps, cook, crockery, equipment to cook or a dining tent.

If you prefer not to carry your meals from the base camp to the height camps, you can hire our porter service so that he carries the meals for you. The price for this service is also detailed below in this document.

In order to organize this meal service, you should send us your itinerary detailing each trekking or resting day.
